Hello, respondents! :o)
I'll post my notes tomorrow. In addition to the lonnnnng program, my Book Study also had the privilege of cleaning the bathrooms after the Sunday session.
Too bad I selfishly didn't show up for duty and let the next person enjoy the "privilege" of cleaning the johns! LOL!This was the 1st convention where I didn't contribute one penny! Hopefully, this was my last circuit assembly.
Okay, here's another point I recall without my notes:
The guy comes out and does the announcement as to where we stand financially. He mentioned that we are in a deficit (as always) but that he knows that we (the audience) will do what we can to fix it. He mentioned that, for as long as the 20-something years he's been handling the financial announcements, our circuit has never ended the assembly with a deficit. He said he had confidence in us and to "make those donations".

Hello, everyone.
I somehow managed to endure a Circuit Assembly this past weekend. The two positives that came out of it are:
1) I can easily beat any test of endurance and
2) I was able to obtain some incredulous statements made during the presentationsFor the record, I didn't run into collegegirl, badwillie, or DIM. :o)
I'll keep this simple (at least for now)...
First, George Thompson (District Overseer) has to be one of THE most monotone speakers I have EVER heard. His talks are more like stories, as if he were sitting across from you at the dinner table. Every now and then he would throw in a so-called funny line and the audience would bust out in laughter like the guy was Chris Rock or somebody. I didn't laugh.
Anyhow, he gave the sandwich slice talks after the Sunday intermission (meaning he gave the first talk after lunch and the concluding talk, while the C.O. gave the middle talk).
In his first talk he mentioned how the Catholic church is in shambles because of the pedophile issue. He mentioned how their cover-ups are costing the church money and members. Naturally, nothing was mentioned about the JW pedophile situation. Here's the incredulous part: In the concluding talk he quoted from the Catholic Encyclopedia. He said that they say this about JW's: JW's are the most God fearing people on earth.
He said that was wonderful commendation from such a respectable source.Huh? On the one hand, the Catholic Church are made up of pedophiles.
On the other hand they are a respctable source.Sigh...
There are more gems that came out of this assembly but my notes are at home. I just happen to remember this point the most.
